Despite what your family members may say, running a government is a hard thing to do. No game better encapsulates that better than Democracy 3. This game is a government simulator. Yes, I know, it sounds absolutely riveting, but it is actually quite engaging once you fall in. Every decision you make will show what consequences come with it. Tax cuts to the upper class will bring in more revenue, but the game shows how that will affect the rest of the country with green and red bars showing positive and negative responses respectively. The game can be quite daunting, with the need to balance the economy, welfare of the state, and homeland security, while also trying to get reelected to another term. Make too many brash changes without sufficient security, and you may find that your character is assassinated by a rogue element of capitalists or other political parties.
Once you get the hang of the game and its systems, that’s when the game really starts to open up. Balancing the parties happiness becomes easier, and soon exploitable. In time, you can create any type of political utopia or dystopia within a couple hours of gameplay. If simulation games are your thing, or if you’d like to know what would happen when America becomes say, a communist dictatorship, try this game out
